An awesome August is ahead in the Bradford district with plenty of brilliant summer events and activities to join in with whilst the schools are out and the sun is shining! Whether you're planning a day out with the family, looking for summer activities, or wanting to celebrate Yorkshire Day in style, there's plenty happening throughout the month.

Presented by the Bradford Culture Company, The Beacon returns to Wibsey Park throughout August with a packed programme of live music, comedy, family activities and creative experiences. Highlights include folk innovators The Rheingans Sisters, the interactive outdoor installation MORPHOSIS, comedy favourites Marcel Lucont’s Whine List and Loaded Laughs at The Beacon plus free activities ranging from outdoor art and adventure play to storytelling, sport and community celebrations

Head to Cliffe Castle in Keighley for the Creative Earth Eco Fest on Saturday 1st August, a festival that combines creativity, sustainability and fun. Visitors can enjoy plant-based photography workshops, a sustainable fashion show, artist talks, live music, photography exhibitions and plenty of eco-friendly inspiration.

There's no better place to celebrate Yorkshire Day than in the Bradford district. On 1st August, join special events taking place around the district in locations including the Bradford Industrial Museum, Ilkley Manor House and St George’s Hall in Bradford for celebrations featuring live entertainment, guided walks, crafting and plenty of ‘On Ilkla Moor Baht ’at’.

One of Bradford's biggest cultural celebrations returns to City Park and Centenary Square. At the Bradford City Mela on 1st-2nd August you’ll enjoy stage performances, cultural displays, great food and drink, artisan stalls and creative activities in a vibrant celebration of South Asian culture and community spirit.

Experience the vibrant sights, sounds and flavours of the Bradford African Festival of Arts from 3rd–8th August 2026, a week-long celebration of African culture, creativity and heritage across venues in Bradford. Enjoy live music and dance, theatre performances, art exhibitions, food markets and family-friendly activities, bringing communities together in a colourful celebration of African traditions and contemporary culture.

The big top arrives at East Holmes Field in Ilkley this summer as The Great Yorkshire Circus brings a brand-new all-human production packed with acrobatics, daring performances and traditional circus magic. Perfect for families, this spectacular show comes to town on 5th-9th August.

Spend a relaxing Sunday browsing the stalls at Saltaire Farmers Market in Roberts Park on 9th August. Discover delicious local produce, artisan foods, sweet treats, handmade gifts, jewellery and unique products from independent Yorkshire traders. It's an ideal way to support local businesses while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Saltaire.

Lace up your walking boots on 15th August for the Brontë Pub Walk, a charity event taking participants through the stunning landscapes that inspired the Brontë sisters. Choose from self-guided 10-mile or 5-mile routes, with refreshment stops along the way and breathtaking views across Haworth and the surrounding countryside.

Make the most of the school holidays with a packed programme of family-friendly activities across Bradford Museums. Highlights in August include Busy Bees at Cliffe Castle Museum, Brontës, Storytelling and Miniature Books at Bolling Hall, Islamic Art at Cartwright Hall and young detectives can also put their skills to the test at Moorside Mill Mystery at Bradford Industrial Museum, gathering clues and interviewing suspects to crack the case.

Step right up to a summer of family fun at The Broadway Bradford, where a colourful indoor funfair takes over the centre throughout August. Enjoy free oversized games, interactive activities, fun photo opportunities and weekly themed workshops inspired by circus performers, magic and carnival celebrations, making it the perfect way to keep children entertained throughout the school holidays.

Who needs the coast when Bradford brings the beach to the city centre? Bradford By the Sea transforms City Park with giant games, creative activities, deckchairs and a trail of impressive sand sculptures from 17th-27th August.

Learn how the wardens and volunteers look after Denso Marston Nature Reserve in Baildon at What We Use on Saturday 22nd August. Discover the history and practical uses of the tools that help protect and maintain this thriving natural space.

The August Bank Holiday weekend is packed with entertainment across the Bradford district. The annual Shipley Harley Rally Ride-Out returns to Baildon Rugby Club from 28th–31st August, bringing hundreds of motorcycles, live music and entertainment, while on 30th August the North Parade Street Party fills Bradford city centre with live music, street food, drinks and a festival atmosphere as the city's independent bar quarter comes alive with summer celebrations.

Summer shows are in full swing across the district! Shakespeare classics are being performed outdoors with Othello at NT East Riddlesden Hall in Keighley and Bard in the Yard at Ilkley Manor House. The circus antics of The Greatest Show are coming to Bradford Playhouse, meanwhile, Darley Street Market is gearing up for a fun night of professional wrestling in the latest Courtyard Clash.

Music lovers will be shaken, not stirred, by the iconic music of Bond at Bradford Cathedral and get all the feels from the American folk music of the Martha Spencer Trio at The Live Room in Saltaire. Darley Street Market in Bradford hosts three days of live music for Live at the Courtyard, whilst Music at the Museum returns to Cliffe Castle. Then, pioneers of space rock Hawkwind arrive at Bradford Live in a celebration of nearly 60 years of incredible anthems.
