March is arriving in the Bradford district and spring is on the way, bringing longer days, warmer weather and beautiful blooms across the area. The month ahead is packed with brilliant events, activities and shows to help you get ready to step into spring. Here’s a look at some of the highlights coming up over the next 31 days.

Join Plenty at the Square at Darley Street Market in Bradford on Wednesday, 4th March, for a special workshop teaching you how to make delicious, fermented drinks like kombucha. Look out for other workshops later in the month too.

Enjoy a delicious meal at the South Square Centre in Thornton on Friday, 6th March. Murniah Skinner will be hosting the Art of Eating, a 4-course meal inspired by her latest exhibition which is currently on display at the gallery.

Celebrate International Women’s Day with Ilkley Manor House on Friday, 6th March. They’ll be spotlighting Bradford’s brilliant women and girls from the 19th to the 21st century and highlighting some of their incredible achievements. This year’s theme, Give to Gain, is being marked across many IWD events in 2026, with more activities taking place across the district.

Take a stroll around Denso Marston Nature Reserve in Baildon on Saturday, 10th March and keep your ears open for the beautiful sound of birdsong. Your guides will help you identify these wonderful birds and understand what their calls signify. Who knows what you might spot along the way.

English Tourism Week runs from 13th–22nd March, making it a great time to explore the Bradford district. It’s a chance to discover local attractions and enjoy days out from museums and heritage sites to beautiful parks and outdoor spaces. Places like Bolling Hall Museum, East Riddlesden Hall and the Brontë Parsonage Museum, set in the landscape that inspired Wuthering Heights, offer great ideas for a spring visit.

See the iconic first film from Wallace and Gromit at St George’s Hall, Bradford on Saturday, 14th March. This special showing of A Grand Day Out will be accompanied by a live brass band performing the classic soundtrack. After the screening, you can join the band for demonstrations and hands‑on musical workshops.

Mark British Science Week with a special day of family events at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford on Saturday, 14th March. Expect hands‑on activities, real scientists to talk to and lots for all ages to discover in the Sound and Vision Galleries.

Travel the length of the Worth Valley on 19th–22nd March on classic trains as the Steam Gala returns to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Special guest locomotives will join the home fleet, with chances to see the steam crane in action and tour the engine sheds too.

Step into the imaginative world of Jim Moir at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, from 28th March–31st August. The new exhibition features vibrant bird paintings bursting with colour and personality, showing everything from well‑known garden birds to more unusual species. It’s a bright, lively collection that highlights a love of nature and a unique way of capturing each bird’s character.

A colourful roaming Puppet Pageant from Cecil Green Arts will make its way through City Park and Broadway to Darley Street Market on Saturday, 28th March. The large puppets will be joined by The Peace Artistes, who’ll bring lively brass music and feel‑good energy to each stop along the route.

Seek out the Easter Bunny at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley on Saturday, 28th March. He’ll be leaving a trail for youngsters to follow, along with plenty of fun activities and crafts for them to enjoy throughout the day. There’s plenty more Easter inspiration on the way too.

Settle in for an incredible show or concert in Bradford this March, with plenty of fantastic options for everyone. Go back to the circus at the Alhambra Theatre with the new show Barnum or watch the classic play Hamlet presented by the RSC. Ilkley Playhouse explores youth custody in Animals, while Bradford Live invites you to take part in a recreation of a real‑life case in Murder Trial Tonight: Death of a Landlord. Meanwhile, legendary musician John Lydon arrives at King’s Hall in Ilkley to talk about his remarkable career with the Sex Pistols.

Music fans can head back to the last millennium with 90s Originals Live at St George’s Hall in Bradford or enjoy a classical concert on the historic Wurlitzer Organ at Victoria Hall in Saltaire when Richard Hills takes the keys. The Drifters bring their incredible show to Bradford Live, while Dr Clive Jackson DJs a brilliant set at Silsden Town Hall. Classical music lovers can also visit Bradford Cathedral for a performance of Handel’s Messiah.
