As the days get shorter and Christmas draws near, we can say for sure that November is here! In the Bradford district this means loads of brilliant, seasonal events for you to get excited for — just take a look at some of this month’s highlights:
Begin the month with a magical display at Lister Park, Bradford on Friday, 1st November. The annual Lister Park Lantern Parade by Cecil Green Arts sets off as the sun goes down and will fill the park with illuminated lanterns, music and fun.
Remember, remember to check out incredible fireworks displays taking place across the district between 1st and 8th November to celebrate bonfire night. Celebrate Diwali at NT East Riddlesden Hall, Keighley from 1st-6th November. The hall and grounds will be illuminated by a dazzling display of lights and colour and there will be themed crafting activities to try as you marvel at the handcrafted lanterns.
See wonderful new artworks from the Printmakers Circle at Ilkley Manor House on 2nd-10th November. These North Yorkshire artists are marking a decade of working together and two of them will be on hand to answer questions every day.
Meet author Kate Mosse at the West Lane Baptist Church, Haworth on Sunday, 3rd November. She’ll be talking all about her latest book, The Map of Bones, which concludes her best-selling Joubert Family Chronicles series.
Take a gander at the working exhibits of the Keighley Bus Museum at their open day on Sunday, 3rd November. This month the museum is celebrating 90 years of the Leeds Regent bus, the ANW 682.
Get ready for Christmas by picking up fantastic gifts and homeware at the Markers Market at the South Square Centre in Thornton on 9th-10th November. This year’s market will be full of amazing artisans and festivities, live music and lots more besides.
Pick up delicious local goodies at the Saltaire Farmers Market in Roberts Park on Sunday, 10th November. There’ll be plenty of fresh breads, cakes, cheeses, meats, coffees and more, all from local and specialist producers.
Discover all about the patriarch of the Brontë family, Patrick Brontë, at a special talk at the Brontë Parsonage Museum on Thursday, 14th November. Kate Walker will be talking about his life from his beginnings in Ireland to settling in Haworth.
Find everything you need to become a master builder at the first ever Bradford Brick Festival at Sedbergh Leisure Centre on Saturday, 23rd November. Find dozens of traders offering all things LEGO, from minifigs and retired sets to merchandise and MOCs, as well as fabulous display pieces all built from the humble brick.
Get ready for a magical Christmas season as the district lights up with festive cheer! Celebrations kick off on Saturday, 9th November in Bradford and continue into early December, spreading joy to Keighley, Ilkley, Saltaire and more. Secure your spot on the wonderful seasonal services of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for a festive ride. The theatres and music venues across the district are getting ready for a jam-packed November featuring some unmissable shows. The Alhambra Theatre is hosting two of the world’s favourite musicals, The Book of Mormon and Hairspray. The Swedish cult comic Tomas Ahlbeck is bringing his new show, Scandinavian Jesus, to Silsden Town Hall while the nation's 12th favourite doctor (no, not Matt Smith) Adam Kay, is telling tales from the ward to audiences at St George’s Hall in Bradford. More great comedy is coming to Ilkley as the Comedy Store returns to King’s Hall while Ilkley Playhouse presents a heartwarming production of The Herd.
Music fans will adore tributes to Queen at Bingley Arts Centre and Elvis at St. George’s Hall. Meanwhile the Airedale Symphony Orchestra will put on a classical concert at King’s Hall and star of the Voice Nadia Eide will fill Bradford Cathedral with festive music. Popular Celtic folk band Roisin Ban is returning to Ilkley Playhouse and Steven Fearing will woo audiences at The Live Room Saltaire as St George’s Hall in Bradford hosts an incredible rock concert lit by candlelight.
