The Cathedrals Cycle Relay 2022

The Cathedrals Cycle Relay 2022

In light of COVID-19, there may be some disruptions to opening hours; please check with attractions, museums, galleries, libraries, leisure centres, theatres, and accommodation providers before travelling.

Once again, England’s cathedrals are on a mission to cycle cathedral to cathedral, bringing us together, spreading hope and supporting each other in raising spirits and promoting a healthy mind and body.

In 2022 we launched the Cathedral Cycle Route and England's cathedrals welcomed hundreds of cyclists tackling many of the 42 stages. Some for spiritual purposes, a kind of pedal pilgrimage, others for a clear mind and an opportunity to explore our wonderful cathedrals and the spaces between them. Whatever your purpose, we would love you to enjoy the CCR and of course collect your stamps and stickers along the way.

The well-travelled and blessed bronze baton will set off from Newcastle (the most northerly diocese of the Anglican Church in England) on Mon 6th June and after 2000 miles and 42 cathedrals it will return, having raised money for a good causes and raised awareness of the CCR cycle route.

In 2021 the baton was passed from cyclist to cyclist, traveling the 2000 miles clockwise around the UK. In 2022 the journey will take place in reverse...that's anti-clockwise as opposed to cycling backwards :)

Cyclists will be able to join relay for as short or as long a leg as they like and are welcomed to join as many sections as they wish*

This Eventbrite site is for cathedrals and cyclist to register individual and relay teams.

Please note: This page is not the 'fundraising' site.

The event is FREE, however you are welcome to provide a small donation to help support the CCR and provide cyclists with a medal and certificate. Please do not feel obliged to donate, your attendance, enjoyment and support of the cathedrals and the route is most important thing to us all.

*We recommend not exceeding 5 consecutive days as the relay is not a supported bike ride.

The CCR is a non-profit venture and we hope to collectively contribute towards the nations wellbeing and raise funds for charitable causes, along with introducing more people to our beautiful cathedrals and heritage.

All our cathedrals look forward to welcoming cyclist as pedal pilgrims or explorers of the CCR and our wonderful cathedrals...each cathedral holds a stamp and/or stickers, along with a passport to collect and mark the occasion. Please note each cathedral is an independent organisation and can vary in their opening times and visitor resources.
