Bradford City Centre presents Mini Mardi Gras! From Friday 21st to Tuesday 25th Feb 2020.

It is Carnival season across the world, and Bradford is no exception, so let’s bring a bit of New Orleans to BD1 with the Mini Mardi Gras!

Local businesses, supported by the Bradford Improvement District, have come up with a five-day programme of activity across different locations in Bradford city centre.

Here's what it looks like at the moment (with more details TBA):

** Friday 21st Feb **

Live music at The Old Crown - full line-up TBA

** Saturday 22nd Feb **

Live music all day at The Brick Box Rooms, plus a guest DJ.

Come and dance to The Cajun Aces, a three piece band playing traditional Cajun music from the French-speaking rural districts of South West Louisiana. Most of the songs are in patois Cajun French, featuring two-steps and waltzes.

You can also get yourself a hurricane cocktail and some homemade vegetarian gumbo with freshly baked cornbread from Bradford’s own Beat & the Pulse, while you watch a live stream from New Orleans - hometown of the famous Mardi Gras festival.

** Sunday 23rd Feb **

Live music at Romy’s in Sunbridge Wells. Previously known as The Gin Bar, Romy’s is a sparkling gem in the heart of Bradford. It's a lovely spot for some relaxed Sunday Mardi Gras tunes to ease yourself through the rest of the weekend.

** Monday 24th Feb **

Lefteris coffee and tea room will be offering up delicious, homemade, and suitably brightly coloured cakes all weekend. Pop in for a coffee and something sweet between 7am and 5pm.

** Tuesday 25th Feb **

Bradford Cathedral are seeking the best flippin' team in Bradford! On Shrove Tuesday they’re looking for teams of four from Bradford businesses, charities, organisations and groups to find the best pancake racers in the city, all in the name of raising money for this year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal. Have you got what it takes? Find out more and register your team at Eventbrite.

Then in the evening head to Al's Juke Bar on Darley Street for their long held tradition of celebrating Mardi Gras on the actual day of the festival itself.
