About

The National Science and Media Museum, in the heart of Bradford, explores the science and culture of light and sound technologies and their impact on our lives. With the aim of inspiring the scientists and innovators of the future, it invites visitors to see more, hear more, think more and do more.

New for 2025: Sound and Vision
Explore the past, present and future of media technologies in Sound and Vision - two new permanent galleries packed with over 500 fascinating objects. Meet a (friendly) Dalek, play among the Cottingley Fairies, come face-to-face with Dracula’s fangs, try your hand at being a radio DJ, get up close to a mixing desk used by The Prodigy, and put yourself in the picture with a specially created interactive artwork. With surprises around every corner, Sound and Vision brings the museum’s world-class collections to life in exciting and unexpected ways.

Explainers create learning activities that fuel the imagination and investigate the collections and exhibitions. Three cinema screens—including an IMAX theatre—showcase the magic of moving images from around the world in Bradford, the first UNESCO City of Film.

Don't Miss: The interactive gallery Wonderlab, which explores the science of light, sound and perception through state-of-the-art, hands-on activities and breathtaking shows.

The Media Café: Specialising in freshly prepared food, open every day from 10am until late. Featuring deli sandwiches, house-made cakes and hand-made pizzas amongst many more delicious items, the café is perfect to visit before watching a film.
