Shaun The Sheep Brings Spooky Fun To National Science And Media Museum This October Half-Term

Shaun the Sheep is coming to Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum this October half term (24th October – 1st November) for a packed programme of free and low-cost Halloween inspired activities.

Inspired by the release of new Sky Original film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom (in cinemas September 18) and the museum’s own collections, Mossy Bottom Laboratory will bring Shaun’s Halloween adventure to life at the museum for a week of family friendly spooky fun. 

Families can expect themed live science shows, Shaun the Sheep themed photo opportunities and stop-motion animation workshops inspired by Aardman’s beloved filmmaking techniques run by the museum’s team of Explainers.

On Halloween (Saturday 31st October), the museum will host an enhanced day of spooky activities for all ages. Families can get Halloween-ready and take part in a spooky silent disco and join family-friendly tours exploring related objects in the museum's collection, including iconic horror film props and Victorian spirit photography, alongside the wider programme of Shaun the Sheep-inspired activities running throughout October half term.

Throughout October half term, pop-up talks exploring the secrets of special effects makeup will also take place in the museum’s Sound and Vision galleries, inspired by the museum’s collection of Hammer Horror material. Elsewhere on gallery, Aardman fans will be able to see an original set made and used by Aardman for  Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015) and follow a trail across the museum to delve deeper into the science behind filmmaking and animation.

Pictureville Cinema will also screen Aardman films throughout October half-term, including Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom (2026), with a reduced-price Kids’ Club offer for other Aardman favourites, with tickets starting at £3.

To celebrate the launch of Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom (2026), the museum has also partnered with local schools and community groups for a “Ewesclusive” screening event on Saturday 19th September. The special event will give families from across the Bradford community the chance to be among the first to see Shaun’s latest adventure on the big screen, with exclusive Shaun-themed activities to mark the film’s release.
