The Bingley Gallery is an artist-run retail outlet which specialises in artists from our own district. The latest show is their annual Summer Exhibition, which provides the perfect opportunity for 14 artists to shine. For this exhibition, there is no set theme, ensuring a wonderfully varied exhibition of subjects, media and artistic approaches.

We're delighted to welcome Tamara Lawson to the gallery. Many will remember Tamara from the galleries she previously ran in Harrogate and Ilkley. Sadly, both have now closed and, after a year's break, she has returned to painting as a studio-based artist. Drawing on her background as a stage designer, she creates striking contemporary works that are much sought after for interior spaces.

It's always rewarding to showcase the wealth of artistic talent on our doorstep. We're pleased to welcome back Ilkley-based Tony Dexter, whose bold, expressive paintings capture everything from fishing boats to Highland crofts with boldness. Also returning is Suzanne McQuade, whose gently evocative watercolours bring a sense of tranquillity and calm to any home.

We're especially pleased to be exhibiting work once again by Jeremy Taylor, who tutored many local artists over the years. Now painting again, he has contributed four atmospheric oil paintings of classic Yorkshire landscapes, perhaps with a subtle nod to one of Yorkshire's most evocative painters, Joseph Pighills.

'Bonehead' has become very much a permanent fixture at the gallery, and we're delighted to have received two new works for this exhibition—one of which was snapped up before it had even been hung. Although he left art college many years ago, his imagination, craftsmanship and sense of humour provide a refreshing counterpoint to some of the more traditional works on display.

Also making welcome return appearances are Stella Verity and Rob Thompson. Stella has introduced collage into her latest work, while Rob continues to recreate historic scenes with his trademark eye for detail.

Gallery regulars L. Amy Charlesworth, Jane Fielder, Judith Levin and David Starley have each managed to slip a few works into the mix.  Heather Swain, whose linocuts have become a familiar feature of the gallery, is also launching several new editions, including a beautiful view from Otley Chevin. Finally, Jane Hurford has been in to drop off a new batch of her engaging ceramics

Whether you're an experienced collector or simply looking for a taste of the exceptional artistic talent Yorkshire has to offer, we hope this exhibition contains something to inspire and delight.
