In Events

Coming to BD: is LIT on 7–8 November? We’ve got all the details to help you have the best time — especially if you have any access or sensory requirements. This brilliant event will be lighting up Bradford City Centre, and we want everyone to enjoy it comfortably and confidently.

What to expect

BD: is LIT is a light festival which has bright lights and some loud sounds and mainly takes place outdoors. It is free to attend and takes place in Bradford city centre. The loudest installations will be Monolith by Urban SpY at the mirror pool, Spark! at Centenary Square, Bank Street and Hustlergate, and Lighthouse at Darley Street Market.

While fireworks are not part of BD: is LIT, the proximity to Bonfire Night means nearby areas may have displays, which could contribute to a noisier evening.

Sensory-Friendly Tips:

  • Consider bringing ear defenders or noise-cancelling headphones, especially for louder installations or unexpected fireworks.
  • Some installations feature bright, flashing lights — sunglasses or tinted lenses may help reduce visual sensitivity.
  • Visiting earlier in the evening may offer a quieter experience before peak crowds arrive.

Quiet Space

There will be two quiet spaces available for use during the festival. Please speak to a volunteer who will provide more information on the night.

Transport

We expect the city centre to be very busy over the weekend, so please plan your trip in advance. We highly recommend using public transport to get into the city centre; the nearest train stations are Bradford Interchange (which is also the main bus station) and Foster Square. You can find accessible travel details here.

Accessibility

BD: is LIT installations are mainly outdoors in Bradford’s pedestrianised city centre, which offers step-free access and level surfaces in many areas. Indoor venues have lift access, though the route to Darley Street Market and Loading Bay includes a steep hill that may be difficult to navigate for visitors with limited mobility.

Toilets

The Pavilion toilets will be open until 9:30pm on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November. They are located near Cake 'Ole, are fully accessible and are free to use. There is also a Changing Place toilet available in the same location.

Even More to Enjoy on Saturday

On Saturday 8 November, BD: is LIT coincides with the Bradford Festive Launch, bringing even more energy and celebration to the city centre.
