The National Science and Media Museum’s Pictureville Cinema has been announced as West Yorkshire’s only partner venue for the 69th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express. The festival takes place from the 8 to 19 October in venues across the UK in addition to those in the capital, as part of LFF on tour.

Pictureville will host a selection of films from across 2025’s festival programme, including this year’s opening night gala Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025)The film’s international premiere will take place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall to mark the beginning of the festival, with Pictureville audiences able to see it on the very same night, ahead of international release.

Other highlights from across the programme include Hamnet (2025), the big screen adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s acclaimed 2020 novel starring Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare, Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated retelling of Frankenstein (2025) and Kelly Reichardt’s 1970s quietly thoughtful heist drama The Mastermind (2025), starring Josh O’Connor.

Bradford audiences will also be among the first in the country to see wartime historical comedy-drama The Choral (2025), by beloved writer Alan Bennett and starring Ralph Fiennes. Filmed locally in Saltaire, Pictureville will be hosting a special Bradford gala screening in celebration of its release.

Further screenings include Akinola Davies Jr’s intimate Lagos-set family drama My Father’s Shadow (2025), and Giant (2025), the thrilling real-life story of Sheffield boxer Prince Naseem Hamed and his trainer Brendan Ingle, starring Amir El-Masry and Pierce Brosnan. Pictureville will also screen Love+War (2025), a gripping documentary from the directors of Free Solo profiling Pulitzer Prize-winning war photographer Lynsey Addario.

As West Yorkshire’s only festival venue and Yorkshire’s largest independent cinema, Pictureville offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience the festival outside of the capital, during Bradford’s year as UK City of Culture. This comes as part of Bradford: A City of Film, which supports independent film across the district and highlights Bradford’s rich screen heritage.

Pictureville members will be able to access priority ticket booking from 10 – 16 September, ahead of their general release from 16 September onwards.
