Christmas in Haworth partner with Sue Ryder Manorlands for a packed schedule of events of the festive season, raising money for a hugely popular local cause.
Join us for traditional festivities, local hospitality, and a warm Christmas spirit in Haworth this November and December.
Haworth, the historic village in West Yorkshire, is preparing for an exciting Christmas season filled with engaging community events and local shopping experiences. Haworth welcomes everyone to join in the festive spirit, support local businesses, and enjoy a host of events across late November and December.
This year, a re-structured Christmas in Haworth organising committee, has joined forces with local charity Sue Ryder Manorlands to work in partnership to deliver a programme of festive events in support of the much-needed and hugely important local hospice; Manorlands. It is hoped that the Christmas events will provide a welcome boost to the charity’s continual fundraising efforts.
To accompany the events, Haworth will be transformed into a magical festive wonderland with hundreds of Christmas Trees lining the streets and thousands of twinkling lights. A new event to the programme for this year is a light switch-on with already present trees dressed in lights, at the Brontë Parsonage Museum as the backdrop. As ever, enchanting shop windows promise to delight all ages, making Haworth a must-see, not-to-be-missed destination this December.
Visitors can look forward to a wide range of traditional festivities, local hospitality, and community spirit. Highlights include the Christmas Lights Switch-On on Sunday 23 November at 17:00, set against the iconic Brontë Parsonage Museum. The much-loved Torchlight Parade returns on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December, lighting up Main Street with lanterns, flaming torches, and brass band music. Santa’s Grotto will be open at Haworth Bowling Club from 12:00 to 15:00 on both days, while St Michael & All Angels Church hosts a magical Carols by Candlelight service at 18:30.
On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December, the village will come alive with festive music from brass bands, choirs, and other performers, with a full schedule to be announced. The Nativity Procession on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December brings the Christmas story to life with interactive storytelling, music, and real donkeys, ending with a short carol service at the church.
Haworth also offers a variety of seasonal shopping experiences, including Christmas Craft Fairs in the Old School Rooms, festive journeys on the Worth Valley Railway, and special events at the Brontë Parsonage Museum. The Christmas Artisan Market takes place on Sunday 16 November in Central Park, showcasing local produce, crafts, and gifts.
Late-Night Shopping Evenings on Thursday 4 and Thursday 18 December invite visitors to browse Haworth’s independent shops until 20:00. On 4 December, the Brontë Parsonage Museum will also open late for a candlelit experience that promises to be truly atmospheric.
Clare Austin, Chairman of the Christmas in Haworth committee: "The festive season in Haworth is truly something special. In these increasingly challenging times, we’re determined to bring Christmas joy to our village, its locals and visitors and at the same time, support our fabulous local businesses. We’re excited about what we have planned for this year and our new partnership with Sue Ryder Manorlands makes all the events that bit more meaningful. We invite everyone to join us in Haworth this Christmas time and create lasting memories with family and friends, whilst supporting an excellent cause."
