The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford will host a special BBC Introducing Live event on Friday 10 October, giving aspiring musicians, DJs and producers the chance to receive expert advice, attend panels, showcase their music, and network with industry professionals.
This one-off event will feature two panel discussions, featuring key industry professionals and established artists who will share their insights and experiences, as well as access to the Feedback Centre, in which visitors can share music with industry experts and gain valuable advice on refining their craft, and any potential next steps. For any DJs wishing to attend, the event will also include an Open Decks session in the museum’s foyer, offering 10 - 15 minute slots to play their mixes in a national museum.
The “Building a Community as an Artist” panel brings together a range of industry professionals to explore how artists can connect with other creatives, audiences and the wider music industry. The panel features acclaimed spoken word artist and musician Antony Szmierek, following his standout performance at St George’s Hall as part of BBC Contains Strong Language Festival. Sinead Campbell, Artist, Creative Producer, and Director of Rise Up Music, also joins the panel alongside DJ and BBC Radio 1 presenter Maia Beth and Emily Pilbeam, presenter on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing Leeds and Sheffield.
The second panel, “How to Make a Living as an Artist in 2025”, looks to the practical side of being a musician today, giving guidance on how to navigate the modern music industry and building a sustainable career in the current creative climate. The panel brings together locally known and nationally recognised voices, offering an understanding of the creative industries both across the United Kingdom more broadly but also the North. It features Claire Hamilton, Launchpad+ Project Lead; Daniel Jones, Writer Relationship Manager at PRS for Music; Jericho from BBC Introducing North Yorkshire & Humberside; and Casey Lowery.
The event forms part of Bradford’s UK City of Culture 2025 programme, celebrating the district’s creative talent and vibrant arts scene. Hosting BBC Introducing Live in the city reflects the museum’s ongoing mission to supporting emerging creatives, showcasing local creativity, and connecting audiences with cultural opportunities.
Since its inception, BBC Introducing has championed unsigned British musicians through the BBC Introducing Uploader, alongside 24 local radio shows and six national shows on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, and 6 Music. Many successful artists, including Ed Sheeran, Raye, Olivia Dean, Sam Fender, and Loyle Carner, began their careers with BBC Introducing support.
Tickets for the event cost £3 and are available to those aged 16 and over via the museum’s website. Entry includes access to both panels, the Feedback Centre, and the opportunity to apply for Open Deck slots.
