Award-winning Independent Bookshop Wave of Nostalgia has announced a special programme of events for May to help celebrate ten years on Main Street in Haworth.

The month kicks off on Saturday 3rd May with tenth anniversary party fun in the shop at 74 Main Street with games and giveaways. Earlier that day, everyone is invited to join the monthly LGBTQ+ group which is meeting at 11.30 to continue planning for Haworth Pride (to be held from 24-29 June). Seven events from poetry to picnics and choirs to disco are planned. More details next month!

On Wednesday 7th at 7PM we are delighted to welcome back Yorkshire’s multi-talented Rob Cowen to help launch his critically acclaimed new book The North Road. A dazzlingly inventive, layered account of one road’s passage through place, time and an ordinary family’s history, The North Road is the story of the 2,000-year-old, 400-mile-long route from London to Edinburgh. It has attracted sparkling reviews from the likes of Robert Macfarlane, Raynor Winn and Benjamin Myers.

We host a very special guest on Monday 19th May 7PM when multi-million-copy selling writer Rachel Joyce, author of the ‘Harold Fry’ trilogy will read from and discuss her beautifully written family drama The Homemade God. The perfect holiday read, sophisticated unforgettable characters, fancy Italian real estate, lost art and the hidden darkness that can exist in a family.

Alison Binney completes the lineup with her new collection of poetry, The Opposite of Swedish Death Cleaning. The award-winning author of Other Women’s Kitchens, in this collection Alison has created poems that explore both intimacy and loss, are rich with plants, trees and birds, as well as household objects. What binds the poems together is a sense of human connection. The poems sing with tenderness, vitality and humour. Alison will read from her book, answer questions and sign copies at 7PM on Thursday 29th May.

Wave of Nostalgia owner, Diane Park says “This month is super special as we have been in Haworth for exactly 10 years, living the dream, meeting amazing people customers and authors.
