During the October half-term, Bradford Museums & Galleries are hosting various activities as part of the Family Learning Festival to celebrate autumn.  There are craft activities for art lovers, a ghost trail for those who love spooky stories, interactive events for Black History Month and a lantern parade. Why not visit all of Bradford’s incredible museums and join in with all the great activities.

Join Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquaad, Dragon, and the Alhambra Theatre this half-term for a spectacular production of Shrek: The Musical. Filled with all your favourite songs, characters, and lines from the hit film, it’s a whirlwind adventure that everyone will want to be a part of.

Climb aboard a vintage train on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for an autumnal journey. Everyone can enjoy the magic of steam travel while admiring the scenery and the changing colours of the seasons in comfort.

Spend an afternoon wandering through the gardens of NT East Riddlesden Hall in Keighley following their Pumpkin Trail. Can you find them all to discover the secret word? Once you have it head indoors to find spooky figures lurking in the Hall and make your own bat in the discovery room.

Get out on your bike in the autumn and take the family for a rideout in the fresh air. Try a well-liked ride starting in Saltaire along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath to Bingley, passing through beautiful terrain and areas that are rich in heritage.

Discover something incredible this half-term with the National Science and Media Museum, bringing science to venues in Bradford. Learn all about the secrets of space, try your hand at special effects make-up, and watch a spooky Halloween-themed science show.

Explore the paths of Lister Park by lantern light on Friday, 27th October. The annual Lantern Parade offers a magical, family-friendly evening with lots of live entertainment culminating, in a grand fire finale.

Autumn is an awesome time to go for a leisurely walk in the woods. Put on your wellies, pack a flask or two of hot drinks to keep everyone warm, and sit back and admire the autumn colours on a walk-through Middleton Woods in Ilkley.

Dress up and carve your own spooky pumpkins for Halloween at two special events in Bradford. On Friday, 27th October near Pizza Express outside The Broadway with Bradford BID, and on Saturday, 28th October at Kirkgate's Creepy Carve. In addition to pumpkin carving, there will be stilt walkers at the Kirkgate Centre and a live carving demonstration at outside the Broadway.

Take a spooky ride through the woods on the Shipley Glen Tramway from 28th-29th October. Be sure to peek between your fingers and count how many skeletons you see entering the prize draw. After enjoying a wonderful autumn afternoon at the Glen, you can dare to ride again on the way back.
