Organisations across the Bradford district will take part in the nationwide Family Learning Festival this half term, with events taking place from Saturday 21 – Sunday 29 October.  

The yearly celebration marks and inspires a love of learning in family life and this year will see Bradford Council’s Bradford Museums and Galleries, Bradford Libraries, Bradford Markets and The National Science and Media Museum; Bradford Cathedral; Bronte Parsonage Museum; East Riddlesden Hall; Impressions Gallery and more, team up for an exciting programme of activities across the district.

Saturday 21 October 

11.00: Bestselling author event with Kate Pankhurst in person, Keighley Library and 14.00 Shipley Library 

11.00 – 15.00: Amazing Apple Day, Cliffe Castle Museum 

Sunday 22 October 

10.30: Kids’ Club screening, Pictureville Cinema at the National Science and Media Museum 

11.00 – 15.00: Halloween Hyacinths – bulb painting, storytelling and facepainting, Bolling Hall Library & Museum 

Monday 23 October 

11.00 – 16.00: Secrets of Space, National Science and Media Museum and Future Transformation at The Broadway Shopping Centre 

13.00 – 16.00: Lantern making, Bradford City Library as part of Intercultured Festival 

Tuesday 24 October 

10.00: Robin Simpson’s simply amazing drama and storytelling show, Keighley Library and 13.00, Manningham Library 

11.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 14.00: Theatre in a Box show and activities, Bradford Industrial Museum 

Wednesday 25 October 

10.30 – 11.15: Izzy Gizmo story time and rocket activity, Silsden Library 

10.00: “Wangari’s Trees of Peace” drama-inspired interactive storytelling with Mud Pie Arts, Ilkley Library and 13.00 Bingley Library 

11.00, 12.00 and 13.00: “Acclaimed author and artist” Richard O’Neill and Michelle Russell, Cartwright Hall and Art Gallery 

Thursday 26 October 

11.00 – 15.00: Reach for the stars: Craft and poetry based astronomical workshop, Bolling Hall  

11.00, 12.00, 13.00 and 14.00: Hocus Pocus: Halloween science showdown and activities with the National Science and Media Museum, Oastler Market 

11.00 – 15.00: Big Draw: Find out how we can draw with our senses, Cartwright Hall Art Gallery 

Friday 27 October 

10.30: Fantastically great women who worked wonders story time, Wyke Library 

11.00 – 12.30 and 13.30 – 15.30: Monster makeup and spooky slime with the National Science and Media Museum, Kirkgate Shopping Centre 

17.00 – 21.00: Museums at Night: Lister’s lantern parade, Cartwright Hall and Lister Park 

Saturday 28 October 

11.00 – 15.00: Models, trams, locomotives, remote control boats, Meccano and ride-on engines, Bradford Industrial Museum 

12.00 – 15.00: Dancing with Words workshop, Keighley Library 

Sunday 29 October 

10.30: Kids’ Club film screening, Pictureville Cinema at the National Science and Media Museum 

11.00 – 15.00 Spooky Halloween Fun for early years (0-5 years), Bolling Hall Museum
