Bradford Cathedral welcomes regular visiting choirs during the summer, and the next will be Caelestis, who will be leading the music at three services over the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August 2023.
Caelestis – which means ‘heavenly’ - began life at the University of York as a way of bringing Evensong to local churches. The choir expanded out to sing Evensong at churches further afield, including at Ripon Cathedral in 2019, and have sung across the country since then, including at Hampton Court Palace earlier in the year.
Joel Starkie, Conductor of Caelestis, says:
“We would love a really warm welcome when we arrive this month! It will give us the opportunity to really enjoy Bradford as a city.
Essentially, we need you. That’s what we want: for you to come and help us enjoy the place and music!”
You can hear Caelestis at Choral Evensong on Saturday 26th August at 5:30pm and at Choral Eucharist (10:30am) and Choral Evensong (3:30pm) on Sunday 27th August. All are welcome, and the Choral Eucharist service is also streamed online.
You can find out more about the choir in our interview at bradfordcathedral.org.uk/2023/07/15/caelestis/
