Senbla presents Opera International’s Ellen Kent productions; La Bohème, Madama Butterfly and Aida at the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford this March. Featuring the Ukrainian Opera and Ballet Theatre Kyiv, with international soloists, highly-praised chorus and full orchestra.

Ellen Kent has hand-picked all of the soloists and is directing all three operas to create visually beautiful and moving productions. Ellen said: “My operas have to be emotional and beautiful. I try to produce opera that the audience can emotionally connect with, not just on a musical level but with the personal drama happening on the stage.”

The cast includes international Korean Soprano Elena Dee, Ukrainian soprano Alyona Kistenyova, Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Natalia Matveeva, Ukrainian tenor Vitalii Liskovetskyi, Romanian tenor Sorin Lupu and celebrated Ukrainian baritone Olexandr Forkushak.*

Vasyl Vasylenko, artistic director and conductor for the National Municipal Opera and Ballet Theatre, Kyiv, returns along with guest conductor and artistic director of the National Opera of Moldova, Nicolae Dohotaru plus members of the Ukrainian Opera & Ballet Theatre Kyiv.

One of the most romantic operas ever written, La Bohème is traditionally staged featuring beautiful sets and costumes. Set in the backstreets and attics of Bohemian Paris, this powerful and emotional opera tells the heart-breaking tale of the doomed, consumptive Mimi and her love for a penniless writer, Rodolfo. Puccini’s masterpiece, La Bohème, is based on Henri Murger’s novel Scenes de la vie de boheme.

The sumptuous set is inspired by the art of the Bohemian period, particularly Chagall and Renoir. The set reflects the Bohemian art of the period and the authentic costumes will transport you immediately to Bohemian Paris. The production includes a brass band, snow effects and Musetta’s adorable dog will also make an entrance.

This classic story of Parisian love and loss features many famous arias including Your Tiny Hand is Frozen, They Call Me Mimi and Musetta’s Waltz.

Madama Butterfly is Puccini’s popular tale which the hit West End musical Miss Saigon is based on. One of the world’s most popular operas, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly tells the heart-breaking story of the beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results. Highlights include the melodic Humming Chorus, the moving aria One Fine Day and the unforgettable Love Duet.

Back by overwhelming public demand, this award-winning Opera returns in a new production with exquisite sets including a spectacular Japanese garden and fabulous costumes including antique wedding kimonos from Japan.

Aida, the grandest of all Ellen Kent’s operas, returns with a stunning new traditional production, boasting an impressive new set built by Set-Up Scenery in the UK, who also build sets for the Royal Opera Covent Garden. The production also stars a majestic black stallion provided by AB Film Horses.

In Aida, the splendour of Egypt is set against the grandeur of the Coliseum of Rome with Ellen Kent’s direction influenced by the ancient Greek dramas of Euripides and symbolising the powerful religious hold of the priests of Egypt.

This tragic story of war, jealousy and revenge at whose heart is the doomed love of the beautiful Ethiopian slave girl, Aida, and the Egyptian hero, Radames, is brought to life in a production set against one of the greatest pieces of music Verdi ever wrote with the well-known arias Celeste Aida, Ritorna Vincitor and the classic Triumphal March. It features a temple dance, cascades of glittering gold, magnificent seven-foot-tall black, ebony statues with gold replicas from the Tutankhamen collection, huge set and many other authentic additions with spectacular dancing Poi fire spinners.

I think that the relationship between opera, theaters, arts, and academic research and researchers is of vital importance. Opera and theaters are the places where the arts meet the audience and create unique experiences. My college professors claim that they serve as a source of inspiration for researchers in the academic field who study the history, music, theater, and other aspects of these arts. At least, academic research contributes to understanding and preserving cultural heritage, developing theoretical approaches, and fostering innovation in the arts. I had to do an academic project on this topic and https://paperell.net/write-my-research-paper is the source that helped me. I decided to write my research paper via the help of experts and they shared to me this conception of a strong relationship between arts and research. I promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the cultural and artistic value of these domains through close collaboration between opera, theaters, arts, and academic research.
