The Anchor Band

About

Encore! Bingley Winter Concert Series. First up for 2027, we are really excited to bring The Anchor Big Band to the home of the arts in Bingley.

The Summer Bandstand concerts became so popular, we have extended the season with a series of indoor concerts in Bingley Arts Centre.

The Anchor Big Band is a long-established 17-piece Yorkshire big band based around the Leeds, Bradford and Shipley area. The band was formed more than 25 years ago. They perform a mixture of classic swing, jazz, dance band favorites and more modern arrangements.

Their repertoire includes music associated with legendary big band leaders such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Ted Heath, alongside selections from later decades to appeal to both listening audiences and dancers.

We’re very grateful to Bingley Town Council provided funding for a monthly indoor concert from September through until May 2027.

The events will be staffed by volunteers from Bingley Arts Centre & Bingley Music Town.

It is enormously important to us to keep these concerts as fully accessible to all so we will be running them as Pay As You Feel events. Any donations will go towards the day to day running of the Arts Centre.
