A steam engine coming towards us in full steam

About

Following the hugely successful 2025 production at Oxenhope Station, Mike Kenny’s Olivier Award-winning adaptation of Edith Nesbit’s classic comes to our Main Stage.

Uprooted from their comfortable life and sent to a quiet cottage by the railway, Bobby, Phyllis and Peter turn to the world around them, and their own vivid imaginations, for adventure and purpose. Befriending the likes of Perks the Porter and the mysterious Old Gentleman on the 9:15, the siblings soon find themselves at the heart of daring rescues, heartwarming surprises and a quest to right a terrible wrong.

The Reviews Hub called Kenny’s adaptation an absolute theatrical delight that brings the story to life in a thoroughly Yorkshire way, while the Financial Times praised how adults and children alike are enthralled by the clever mix of imagination and reality. A story that never fails to bewitch, and the perfect family treat to round off the year. (Parents – Bring a hankie for that famous cry of “Daddy! My Daddy!”)
