The Hooliemen playing instruments.

About

The Hooliemen are a superb 4-piece acoustic traditional Irish folk band, made up of four seasoned and highly accomplished musicians with decades of shared experience. Now performing officially under the name The Hooliemen, they bring energy, artistry, and a lifetime of musical expertise to every performance.

Each member is a master of their craft:

  • Chris Dyson – Fiddle & Vocals (Roisin Ban, Gaelforce, ex-Mike Harding Band, Leeds CCE)

  • Richard Moss – Guitar & Vocals (ex-Mike Harding Band, Drop the Floor)

  • Paddy Heffron – Button Accordion, Vocals & Sean-nós Dance (Roisin Ban, Leeds CCE)

  • Brian Aylward – Flute, Irish Pipes, Whistle & Vocals (Leeds CCE, Damhsa, Ceilihouse)

With up-tempo traditional Irish music at their core, The Hooliemen deliver thrilling jigs and reels, heartfelt ballads, tight vocal harmonies, a cappella songs, and the vibrant flair of sean-nós dance. Their performances showcase both well-loved Irish classics and high-energy instrumental sets.

Previously known informally as The Hoolie, the band has performed at major events including Whitby Folk Week. Now fully established as The Hooliemen, they continue to bring their rich heritage and exceptional musicianship to audiences across the UK.

“ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT – would recommend. Great communication, brilliant professionalism… a pleasure” — Peter Devine, South Leeds.
