Large‑scale paintings from Bradford’s collection displayed together at Cartwright Hall.

About

Several of the largest paintings in Bradford’s collection come together in this display, spanning more than two centuries of art.

The Big Picture brings together some of the largest works in Bradford’s collection, including paintings by L.S. Lowry, August Müller and Salima Hashmi’s monumental Zone of Dreams. Many of these works have not been displayed together for more than a decade.

From portraits and landscapes to scenes of everyday life, the paintings refl ect changing ideas about art, society and the world around us.

Shown side by side, they offer a chance to experience the scale and ambition behind some of the collection’s most striking works.
