About

Discover the BD Dazzler, a project developed by The Leap, which transforms a large van into a glowing installation and mobile exhibition space inspired by Pakistan’s famous decorated trucks. Local artists Zareena Bano and Aamta Tul Waheed worked with Bradford community groups alongside artisans in Rawalpindi, Pakistan on the first phase of the project, to create a uniquely decorated  tuk tuk (rickshaw) and a series of metal panels, all adorned with designs and motifs inspired by Bradford and its people.

Now, as part of a BD: is LIT local commission, the project will burst into fresh life in colour and light using Chamak Patti — a traditional South Asian technique of hand-cut reflective tapes in vibrant colours.

The BD Dazzler van will be fully wrapped in the new Chamak Patti artwork, transforming it into a moving lit up sculpture which will sparkle brilliantly after dark. The van will also carry the original tuk-tuk from the earlier project, creating an illuminated and illuminating celebration of shared creativity, cultural exchange and local pride.
