About

Shades on! Summer Sounds is set to bring an electrifying atmosphere to Cliffe Castle Park, with an all-day music festival across two dynamic stages.

Co-produced by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture and Serious, this event showcases a packed line-up of artists whose music transcends boundaries—from singer-songwriters and poets to soul divas, DJs, producers, and big bands blending afrobeat, drum ’n’ bass, jazz, and more. It's the perfect soundtrack for a summer Sunday in the park.

Main Stage Line-up:

  • Nitin Sawhney  – Multi-award-winning musician, composer, and producer.
  • Poppy Ajudha  – Acclaimed singer-songwriter from South London with Saint Lucian roots.
  • Joshua Idehen  – Spoken word artist and musician, known for collaborations with  Sons of Kemet  and  Daedalus .
  • Summer Pearl  – Soul singer and rising star.
  • TC & the Groove Family  – A mighty Leeds-based 10-piece band fusing afrobeat, breakbeat, jazz, highlife, and hip hop.
  • Kenzo Jae  – Bradford-born singer and rapper, blending indie and punk with old-school hip hop.

The Beacon Stage: Featuring performances by Indo-jazz pioneer  Sarathy Korwar , alt-soul singer  Tawiah , and a jazz dance workshop led by  Masumi Endo  and  DJ Lubi —a chance to show off some moves!
