About
Saltaire Arts Trail is a community arts event held annually in May. It offers an imaginative visual arts programme, celebrating the village’s rich heritage, and offering opportunities to both emerging and established artists.
The Arts Trail prides itself in reaching out to new audiences and making art accessible to all by using imaginative venues – the internationally recognised Salts Mill, public buildings, the homes of Saltaire residents and outdoor spaces around Saltaire, to display visual art outside of traditional settings, as well as delivering new exhibitions and commissions.
Explore the Open Village to see high-quality contemporary artwork in the unique spaces of Saltaire, in homes, businesses, creative spaces and windows, visit the Saltaire Makers Fair at Victoria Hall, with over 65 exhibitors showcasing fresh, contemporary art, craft and design, and check out our busy programme of exhibitions, activities and workshops.
A programme of exhibitions includes: Pollen Paintings by Freddie Yauner, an exhibition featuring live painting exploring biodiversity, farming and pollinators at Salts Mill; Wild Bee Cafe by Freddie Yauner and Max Fraser, a pollinator-inspired, hand-painted drinks kiosk touring Shipley in the week before the Arts Trail; and Habitat, an exhibition of textile installations at Wash House Garden by students from the FdA Textiles Practice course at Bradford College. Further exhibitions throughout the village showcase more local talent, including large-scale tapestry in the United Reformed Church by Chrissie Freeth, photographic project Mills Transformed by photographer Neil Horsley at Salts Mill, and the Annual Exhibition by Saltaire Art Group at Saltaire Methodist Church.
