Poet, broadcaster, entertainer and national treasure Pam Ayres has been making the nation laugh for half a century. In a special matinee event, Ilkley Literature Festival welcomes Ayres to talk about her latest book, Doggedly Onward: A Life in Poems, which brings together some of her best-known poems from the last fifty years. Subjects include the cavalcade of much-loved dogs, her lifelong fascination with wildlife, the heartbreak of leaving the family home, the travel, mistakes, regrets, and the sober business of ageing.
