Northern Soul: Still Burning Poster.

About

Leap onto the dancefloor and discover the enduring legacy of the cultural phenomenon that is Northern Soul.

Ignited in the working class communities of the North and the Midlands in the late 60s and 70s, this underground scene brought together youth culture and rare, overlooked uptempo American soul music in a rush of exhilaration and high-energy dancing.

Northern Soul: Still Burning charts how this movement has weaved and transformed itself musically and culturally through the decades. Exploring its roots and celebrated all-nighters at the legendary Wigan Casino, the documentary examines the roles that the music and DJs, dance, drugs, politics, class, fashion and much more have played in keeping the embers of Northern Soul burning over the years and how newer generations of dancers and DJs are setting the floors on fire in their own way for future waves of soulies. Northern Soul continues to re-invent itself more than any other music movement, remaining as thriving, vibrant and relevant today as when it first evolved.

With rare and restored archive footage from the time this comprehensive film features exclusive interviews and key insights from Ian Dewhirst, Richard Searling, Paul Mason, Elaine Constantine, Kev Roberts, Russ Winstanley, David Nathan, Wayne Hemingway, Dave Evison, Keith Gildart, Levanna McLean, Tony Blackburn and many, many more.
