About
Monsters have always reflected our deepest fears, but cinema’s most monstrous creatures also expose the stranger, more fragile parts of human nature.
Monster Mash: Four Monsters That Changed Horror brings together four landmark horror films spanning more than fifty years of cinema history, ranging from the birth of the Universal monster to the visceral, gore-splattered transformations of 1980s body horror. Across laboratories, frozen research stations and experiments within human bodies, these films explore our enduring fascination with altering and destroying the human body.
James Whale’s Frankenstein (PG) kicks off the season on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 14:00, followed by Bride of Frankenstein (PG) on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 16:00, offering an even darker and more visually ambitious take on one of horror cinema’s most unforgettable creations.
Half a century later, Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator (18) arrives on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 16:30, pushing the mad scientist tradition to vivid extremes with grotesque splatter, practical effects and gallons of gore.
Finally, John Carpenter’s The Thing (18) screens on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 14:00, transforming the monster into a terrifying form of infectious body horror as an alien organism tears apart and rebuilds the human body in impossible ways.
Four films and four very different monsters. Monster Mash: Four Monsters That Changed Horror celebrates the iconic monsters that changed horror cinema.
