About
Celebrate Hockney Day with a journey into the past on this guided walking tour of Saltaire, the remarkable model village built around the iconic Salts Mill.
Founded in 1853 by Sir Titus Salt, Saltaire was a vision of industrial progress and social reform, designed to house the workers of his vast textile empire. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it remains one of the best-preserved examples of a Victorian model village.
Led by Maria Glot, this insightful tour explores the history, architecture and social life of Saltaire in its 19th century heyday, bringing to life what it meant to live and work in this pioneering community.
Now home to one of the world’s largest collections of David Hockney’s work, Salts Mill offers a unique connection between past and present.
This is an outdoor walking tour. Please wear comfortable footwear and dress for the weather.
Meet outside Saltaire United Reformed Church, BD18 3LF.
