Two people stand close together outdoors at dusk, illuminated by warm light, in a dramatic scene from the film Sinners.

About

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Ryan Coogler’s 2025 supernatural horror captivated audiences with its stylish approach to storytelling, laced with outstanding musical moments and stand out performances from its core cast. The film sees Brothers Elijah "Smoke" and Elias "Stack" (both played by Michael B. Jordan) as veterans escaping a criminal past in Chicago. They use their ill-gotten money to open a juke joint in the Delta only to be set upon by malevolent forces drawn to the life and music of the party.

The film was lauded by critics and made cinema history by becoming the most nominated movie in the history of the Academy Awards, securing a staggering 16 Oscar nominations and eventually winning for screenplay, score and Best Actor for Jordan in his two roles. Moreover, cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for their work on the film.

Sinners combines 15-perf 70mm IMAX and Ultra Panavision 70, the cinematography creates unprecedented visual scale, capturing breathtaking vertical 1.43:1 imagery alongside the ultra-wide 2.76:1 aspect ratio, an ideal combination for a Widescreen Weekend feature presentation.
