A photo capturing Bradford’s cycling heritage, showing cyclists with their bikes in front of Darley Street Market.

About

As part of Heritage Open Day, join Bradford District Museums and Galleries as we celebrate the past and future of cycling.

Did you know that The Bradford Bicycling Club was founded in 1874? Or that in 1895 a four year old was the youngest cycling club member, breaking records with a 33 mile cycle? Or that the East Bradford Cycling Club, set up in 1899, has been home to Olympic and national championship winning cyclists?

We'll have a screening of a film made with Summat Creative on the history of bicycle making at Pennine Cycles, featuring Graham Saunders. There will be a display of bikes from Graham's collection on the day, as well as images from our Photo Archive to explore. There will also be hands-on family craft activities, as well as a chance to meet organisations including the Capital of Cycling, local cycling clubs and the Beryl Bikes team.
