Heritage Craft Workshop: Two Day Leather Rucksack

About

Join leather designer and maker Catherine Edwards for a two day workshop session introducing the principles of leatherwork. These workshops are ideal for those new to leatherwork as well as anyone wishing to develop foundational craft skills in a small, friendly learning environment. All tools and materials are provided.

Two-Day Leather Backpack Workshop
Spend two enjoyable days learning how to make a simple, durable leather backpack entirely by hand. Working with beautiful British vegetable-tanned leather, you’ll be guided through the traditional techniques used in leather craft, including pattern preparation, cutting, marking, hand stitching, and finishing.
By the end of the workshop you will have created your own functional backpack to take home, along with the skills and confidence to continue making leather goods yourself. All tools and materials are provided, and no previous experience is necessary, although requires a moderate degree of dexterity (use of craft knives, needle and thread) and confident use of simple maths (for measuring).
Due to the use of sharp equipment in this course, under 18s or vulnerable adults are to be accompanied by a fully-paying responsible adult.

Please note the these workshops will take place in The Heritage Craft Room, at Bradford Industrial Museum. Please ensure you are able to attend both days of the course when purchasing a ticket for this workshop.
