About
Chris Plant's Harmonic Portals are minimalist light and sound sculptures exploring surface textures and colour harmonies. They translate red, green, and blue light frequencies into audio tones, allowing you to listen to the colours you see.
The light amplifies surface details, and can feel like a magnifying glass (or even an electron microscope at times). You feel drawn to touch the surface to make sure it is real.
The sounds are derived from the frequencies of the red, green and blue light, dropped by many octaves into the audio range, that vary in proportion to the light you see. Two tones, one for the inside and one for the outside colours.
This unique installation invites you to see the world anew and reimagine Bradford's historic buildings.
