Three hikers walks with boots stepping over roots, leaves, and moss.

About

Walk leaders Linda Simic and Derek Whiteley lead this 7‑mile guided route, meeting at Brackenhall Countryside Centre from 9.30am, with the walk starting at 10.00am.

The Centre opens early for participants to explore its historical and environmental displays before the group sets off. The route heads north along the Millennium Way/Dales High Way to Glovershaw Beck, continuing to Golcar Farm to join the Dales Way Link. The walk then follows the path toward Low House and the Compensation Reservoir before joining the Welcome Way. After Heights Farm, the route descends to the Five Rise Locks for a lunch break, with toilets available for those using the café.

The return follows the canal towpath toward Saltaire, passing Dowley Gap and Bradford Rowing Club, before ascending toward the Old Glen public house and returning to Brackenhall Countryside Centre. The walk is graded moderately difficult, with some sections potentially muddy after rain.

Walkers are advised to dress appropriately for the conditions, choose a walk suited to their ability, carry any personal medication or essentials, include basic emergency details in their rucksack, and note that only assistance dogs are permitted.

This walk is organised by Baildon Walkers Are Welcome.
