Bradford Unitarians' current church was built in 1969 but incorporates elements from the Chapel Lane Chapel which was originally on Town Hall Square. The congregation dates back to the English Dissenting tradition and was founded in 1662, they built the first non-conformist meeting house in Bradford in 1719. 'Unitarians' believed that God is one (in contrast to mainstream Christianity's focus on the trinity) and their heretical theological ideas developed alongside the intellectual radicalism of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Today Bradford Unitarian Church https://bradfordunitarians.co.uk/ is a spiritual home for free thinkers. We come together to share our commitment to the free-religious spiritual journey. Bradford Unitarians were one of the first faith venues in the area to register for same-sex marriages.
