Botanical Plaster Casting Magic!

About

Learn the process of plaster casting and the technique of clay mould making to create your own unique botanical plaster tile.

Artist and educator Annabelle Richmond-Wright of Make & Mischief brings her botanical plaster casting experience to The Craft House. During this workshop, you will learn the process of plaster casting and the technique of clay mould making to create your own unique botanical plaster tile, cast from real flowers and plants.

Guided step-by-step, Annabelle will encourage you to use your inner creativity to explore the textures and forms of your chosen plants and to consider the composition and shape of your tile. By the end of the class, you will leave with your own beautiful botanical plaster tile that can be made to be hung on the wall, or to stand on display in your home.

Once you have crafted your clay mould, Annabelle will teach you how to professionally mix and pour plaster, using her secret artists' techniques for the best results. The magical moment will occur when the plaster is set (about 30-40 minutes) and the clay mould is lifted away to reveal impressive detail of gorgeous plants and flowers. Then, you will be shown how to refine, sand and seal your plaster relief, for yours to keep.

You are welcome to bring your own plant material if you wish, but plenty of flowers and plants will be supplied. To summarise, in this class you will…
