About
The music the North made. The stage it deserves.
Bassline Symphony® is the first full symphonic bassline event of its kind, created by Bradford-born producer Tanya Vital and produced by Vital Culture UK Ltd.
The format places UK Bassline, (also known as 4x4 or 'Niche music'), on the same stage as a live symphony orchestra, with both worlds performing as equals. This is not a novelty crossover. It is a statement about cultural recognition, Northern music heritage and which sounds are given major-stage treatment. Bassline emerged from Yorkshire’s working-class communities in the early 2000s. For more than two decades it filled clubs, shaped artists and soundtracked lives across the North and beyond.
The debut Bassline Symphony® show sold out St George’s Hall, Bradford in 2025. The project now returns to Bradford Live on Saturday 28 November 2026, featuring TS7, DJ Q and Jamie Duggan performing alongside the Opera North Orchestra, with orchestral arrangements by Katie Chatburn.
Bassline Symphony® is supported by Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant funding.
