A picture of broadcaster and journalist Amy Garcia

About

Amy Garcia is one of the county’s most recognisable faces, having presented BBC Look North for twelve years. In her time on the famous red sofa, she’s covered some of the region’s biggest stories, including the Manchester Arena bombing, the Rotherham grooming scandal, the end of deep coal mining, and four General Elections. She has interviewed politicians, celebrities and everyday Yorkshire people doing extraordinary things, alongside the much-loved and much-missed presenter, Harry Gration, and local weatherman, Paul Hudson. Now, it’s Amy’s turn to answer the questions. She’ll be talking through her career, life off-screen and some of those incredible charity challenges – abseiling down a 120ft building, dancing in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, dragging the Look North sofa 150 miles through a snowstorm, and who can forget when Amy and Harry cycled the Tour de France route across Yorkshire on a tandem? Amy remembers the warm welcome she received as she passed through Silsden a decade ago and is returning the favour in this very special fundraising event to support the Town Hall
