Kala Sangam is a space available for performing arts, visual arts exhibitions, conferences and wedding receptions.
Kala Sangam is a national company based in Bradford and was founded in 1993 by Dr Shripati Upadhyaya, a consultant psychologist. In Sanskrit, Kala = art and Sangam = meeting point.
The mission of the company is bringing people together through south Asian arts and collaborative arts while the vision is to establish beacon centre of excellence for arts, culture and heritage.
The aims and objectives of Kala Sangam is to promote south Asian and collaborative arts (dance, music, visual arts, crafts, poetry and storytelling) through a programme of high quality, innovative, creative cross art and cross cultural collaborations in partnership with other agencies to people of all ages, abilities, races, ethnicity and religious backgrounds and genders.
The company is headed by a commited Board of Directors and the work is delivered by a dedicated team of staff, freelance artists and volunteers.
The company's work is in the areas of Arts in education, Community performances and Box office tours, Arts in health and Youth Arts.
The work is delivered through a variety of activities ranging from taster workshops, performances, residences, lecture demonstrations, bespoke training for artists, cultural diversity training etc. the company is an accredited centre for Open College Network.
Some of the salient performances of Kala Sangam are Carnival Messiah - a multicultural musical extravaganza, Rural Voices of Kala Sangam - a story telling - dance - music tour, Global Echos - a collaboration with BBC Philharmonic, Selfless Princess - a digital dance project, Poetry in Action - a national tour.
Kala Sangam has been awarded IIP, Positive for Disability and PQASSO.
Thanks to the support of the Arts Council of England's lottery award, Kala Sangam has now moved into the majestic 1886 Grade II listed building St Peters House, a prestigious landmark and vital component of the Bradford City Centre regeneration development.
The company hopes to transform St Peters House into a beacon centre for arts, heritage and culture which will be a home for vibrant arts.

By Road:
From M62, take Junction 26 and join the M606, continue on M606 to the A6177 junction, take the A6177 (Bradford Ring Road, signposted Harrogate/Leeds) and follow for approx 1 mile, passing the ASDA Superstore on the left. At the roundabout, take first exit onto A650 Wakefield Road following signs for City Centre. Continue for 1.6m going straight on at the roundabouts towards the City Centre. Go past the Leisure Exchange/Express by Holiday Inn on your left and straight through lights onto Shipley Airedale Road, then almost immediately take the first left into Peckover Street. At the end of Peckover Street turn left down Church Bank. Kala Sangam is through the arch to your right.
Due to limited car parking spaces, the car park at St Peter's House is for disabled car parking / unloading equipment only. Alternative parking is available on street (metered) or at the nearby Leisure Exchange.
