Details

View All Saints Church Ilkley from the outside and inside and discover the history of Ilkley. There will also be an opportunity for small groups to visit the church tower and discover the ancient art of bell ringing.
Discover the origins of the ancient church situated in the footprint of a Roman fort. Roman stones were used to build the first church, perhaps dating from cAD627. There are Anglo-Saxon remains in its walls and unique crosses in its tower. See also artefacts dating from the 1600s and later items such as the William Morris studio stained glass window and the unique bell ringers' window. This is a chance to see the church in its 1860s form before its refurbishment in 2019. Discover more aspects of the history of Ilkley including those in the neighbouring Manor House museum. Draw the church and make a model of the church with its tower.

Also discover the ancient art of church bell ringing. See the All Saints bells in action and maybe have a go yourself – under supervision, of course! Full details available at http//www.ilkleybellringing.org.uk.
