In this talk we celebrate the 200th birthday of the eminent Victorian, John Ruskin. Ruskin was, from an early age, a man of prodigious genius and infinite curiosity. He explored, and captured, the entire landscape of human knowledge. He loved the architecture of Venice, the majesty of the Alps and the tranquil scenery of the Lake District.
In 1840, when he was 21 years old, Ruskin met JMW Turner for whom he had a great regard. Turner for him represented his ideal ‘Modern Painter’. In the face of industrial development, Turner’s defiant, romantic vision struck a chord in the young man’s heart.
This talk will open your eyes to the beauty of Ruskin’s words and water colours, and share his delight in the extraordinary share his delight in the.
