An Ilkley Players Fringe Production
A Summer Feast from the Works of Mr William Shakespeare.
Romeo and Juliet in 30 minutes
Directed by Mr Dick Hebbert
and
30 minutes of Memorable Shakespeare Duologues
Directed by Mr Andrew Leggott
In 2020, Bard in the Yard consisted of a selection of Shakespearian monologues. In 2021 it was half-hour versions of Macbeth and Twelfth Night. Both were extremely well received and well attended.
This year there will be a thirty minute version of “Romeo and Juliet” directed by Dick Hebbert, who writes:
"On a late summer's day Ilkley Playhouse brings a pair of star-crossed lovers to the Manor House Yard in a half hour version of one of Shakespeare's most famous and most loved plays.
Loving both unwisely and too well, Romeo and Juliet's impossible dream bestrides the implacable enmity of their families across the Yorkshire flagstones.
Sword play, potions, poison, tombs at the dead of night. It's not going to end well... "
plus half an hour of 6-8 Shakespearian duologues directed by Andrew Leggott. More information to come.
Performances will be at 7-30pm in the Wildman Studio at Ilkley Playhouse on Saturday 27th August and at 2-00 pm in the open air at the Manor House Yard on Sunday 28th and Bank Holiday Monday 29th August.
