Suffragette to Citizen Mass Paticipation Event - Marching, Music, Motivation, Memory-Making

Women’s March and celebrations marking the centenary of women suffrage in Britain.

This event marks the 110th anniversary of the momentous rally for suffrage on Shipley Glen, when thousands assembled to demand votes for women and workers in Britain.

Whatever your age, gender or interest in politics enjoy the celebrations with music, stalls, entertainment and activities for all the family - and a chance to think about how citizens can make change, then and now.

What to wear: Suffragette colours of white, green and purple. Anyone dressed in Edwardian costume, with an old penny or wearing the suffragette colours of Green, White and Purple may ride on the tramway for free. Please dress for the weather and uneven ground - Shipley Glen is open moorland.

The March: Starting at 12:30pm from Roberts Park Bandstand, using the zebra crossing to Shipley Glen Tramway where you can ride on the Tramway for free or walk up to the lovely footpath. At the top the roadside walk continues onto Shipley Glen stage and stalls.

The walk is approx 1.5 miles, mostly uphill.

What to bring: Camping chairs, picnic blankets, etc - no BBQS OR CAMPING. Dogs must be on lead.

11:30am - 12:30pm: Roberts Park Bandstand - Congregate and launch
12:30pm: March departs from Roberts Park to Shipley Glen
1pm - 4pm: Shipley Glen
