Details

Visitors will be able to gain free access to both the Engine shed and the Carriages Trust Museums as well as being able to visit the learning coach in the dock of Ingrow Station and can also look around the Ingrow Railway Station.

Rail Story is the home of the Bahamas Locomotive Society which cares for LMS Jubilee 45596 Bahamas, LNWR Coal Tank 1054, Hudswell Clarke Nunlow, Andrew Barclay Tiny and an impressive collection of railway exhibits. Our new children's railway corner will be open for children to delve into our railway treasure chest. There is a museum shop and hot and cold drinks can be purchased. Guided tours of the museum, workshop and yard will be offered. The Vintage Carriage Trust, the Carriage Museum also situated at Ingrow, which houses one of the finest collections of vintage carriages in the UK and is home to diminutive loco 'Lord Mayor' which appeared in the BBC Railway Children programme which was broadcast on television 50 years ago in 1968 2 years before the Railway Children film was made. Jenny Agutter stared in both the TV series and the film.the Vintage Carriages trust will also be offering tours of the museum and workshop and in addition the new learning coach, situated in the dock at Ingrow Station will be open for visitors as well which will be especially interesting for children to see our display of animals and railways.

Please note Thursday 06th & 13th September are not a Heritage Open Days.
