A picture of organist Michael Wooldridge at the Wurlitzer organ

About

We are delighted to welcome back Michael Wooldridge, one of the UK's most celebrated organists, for a festive return to the Victoria Hall, Saltaire and its famous Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ on Sunday 14th December. Michael's concerts are renowned for their wide-ranging repertoire from theatre organ classics to seasonal favourites that will lift your Christmas spirits.

Having performed internationally and on BBC Radio, Michael brings a wealth of experience and a joyful approach to music-making. His return promises a heartwarming afternoon filled with nostalgia, virtuosity, and the unmistakable magic of the organ. Don't miss this special opportunity to hear Michael Wooldridge live once again; an ideal way to begin the festive season!

Michael is an internationally acclaimed organist recognised for his performances on theatre, electronic, and classical pipe organs, along with piano and keyboards. His career began early, winning the  UK Young Theatre Organist of the Year competition in 1980. He later received the prestigious lan Sutherland Memorial Award from the Cinema Organ Society in 1984.

Michael's performance résumé extends worldwide to concerts in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Ireland, and Dubai. He has appeared alongside the Mantovani Orchestra, accompanied silent films at the Berlin Babylon Cinema, and contributed to theatre productions and pantomimes across the UK.

His programme will have a seasonal flavour as will our refreshments which are available for a donation. First time visitors can view the nearly 1000 pipes and percussions below the stage during the interval, and we have pre-owned CDs available, also for a donation, plus two new CDs featuring our organ. There is level access from Lockwood Street via a lift and Saltaire station is only a few minutes’ walk.
