A montage picture of people on off-road bikes, in the countryside

About

The Sue Ryder Bronte Off Road Bike Challenge is back for 2024!  Join us and take on Anne, Emily, Charlotte or Heathcliff in Bronte Country to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder's expert care.

The Bronte Off Road Bike Challenge 2024, organised by the Manorlands Cycling Events Fundraising Group and sponsored by All Terrain Cycles and Pure Lettings Residential, is a popular event with routes suitable for all standards of mountain bike and gravel bikes. This will be the 16th Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors at All Terrain Cycles and All terrain Cycles, all entry fees go straight towards supporting Sue Ryder’s care in the local area. While there is no obligation to raise additional funds through sponsorship, those who raise £50 or more will be entered into a prize draw to win a mystery bike-related prize from our sponsors at All Terrain Cycles.

As in previous years, there is a team entry for groups of four people in all the routes.

Three of our four routes - Charlotte, Emily and Anne - take their names from the three Bronte Sisters who lived in Haworth and were inspired in their writing by the stunning and challenging landscape that the routes navigate. The fourth route - Heathcliff - takes its name from one of their best known characters who spent many hours out on the Pennine moors, as you will do if you select that route.

Heathcliff  35.6 miles - 4422 ft cumulative climb

Charlotte 26.4 miles - 3422 ft cumulative climb

Emily 22.3 miles - 2467 ft cumulative climb

Anne 13.9 miles - 1910 ft cumulative climb

The Anne route is suitable for the family and children who have ridden in this type of terrain and landscape before though there are some sections where less experienced and fit riders might need to dismount.  Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Please wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions of the day and be aware that conditions can change quickly. Helmets are compulsory. Waterproofs, spare socks, a bivy bag and whistles are recommended.

All routes start and finish at Haworth West End Cricket Club. All participants will receive a bespoke Bronte MTB Challenge water bottle courtesy of our sponsor Pure Lettings and a well-earned complimentary hot meal at the finish.
