About
Step into the turbulent world of the Brontë sisters and discover why their novels shocked and captivated 19th‑century readers. This talk explores how Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall challenged Victorian ideas about morality, gender, class, and emotional restraint. With passionate heroines, complex characters, and bold depictions of desire and independence, the Brontës were seen by many critics as dangerous or improper.
With the release of the new Wuthering Heights film, we’ll look beyond the screen to Emily Brontë’s fierce, unsettling novel, exploring how modern adaptations interpret its wild emotional landscape and why the story still feels so powerful today.
