About

Inside Outside at Darley Street Kitchen Presented by Mama Hoodoo's Music, Bradford Markets, and The Underground Bradford.

Enjoy an afternoon of live jazz in the heart of Bradford with food, drinks, and outstanding music. This event features the acclaimed duo Kathy and John Dyson, known for their rich musical interplay and performances across Europe.

Kathy Dyson studied Jazz Guitar at Leeds College of Music and was awarded an APJAG Parliamentary award for her teaching. She has performed and taught jazz both in the UK and abroad. John Dyson brings decades of experience, having played in settings ranging from Big Band to intimate duos, and has taught music in schools and workshops.

Together, they’ve performed at major festivals including Ulmer (Germany), Sorgues International Jazz Festival (France), Canterbury, Brighton, Manchester, and Lancaster Jazz Festivals.

Press Reviews Chris Parker, Jazzwise: “Their material, all self-penned, consists in the main of airy, accessible themes upon which they share, with scrupulous fairness, both soloing and comping duties, his saxophones floating with almost Getz-like purity and warmth over her deft guitar playing, then her thoughtful, cogent guitar soloing making pure, wholly enjoyable, entirely unpretentious music.”

Mike Butler, City Life: “Compelling linear jazz with the accent on sensitive interplay and two-part invention. John and Kathy Dyson are, musically-speaking, the most close-knit of couples. His animated saxophone contributes a cogent flow to a two-way dialogue, and Kathy’s guitar work can glow in any setting.”

Come early, grab a drink, enjoy some food, and settle in for a relaxed afternoon of exceptional live jazz.
