About
We’re very pleased to welcome the Czech Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra for their first visit to St George’s Hall, led by one of Europe’s most highly regarded conductors, Daniel Raiskin, whose collaboration with the orchestra has developed their very considerable reputation.
In a programme of great favourites, one of the UK’s most highly regarded violinists Chloë Hanslip, will perform Bruch’s wonderfully romantic Violin Concerto No. 1. The second half will be a definitive performance of Dvořák’s ever popular Symphony No. 9 From the New World which features the famous theme from the 1970’s Hovis bread advert. The programme opens with a piece by another Czech composer, Janacek, the enchanting Prelude & Pantomime from his opera the Cunning Little Vixen.
