This exhibition has been curated by seven Healthy Minds Apprentices aged 16 – 24. They were recruited by the Clinical Commissioning Group of Bradford and Craven Care Trust to work as ambassadors for young people’s mental health. As part of this year-long project, the apprentices have created an exhibition that offers a genuine and interesting insight into how children and young people are affected by, struggle with, and also manage and celebrate their mental health and wellbeing.
Working with three All Star Entertainments project workers, and in partnership with Bradford District Museums & Galleries, it is an engaging and thought provoking exhibition that uses creative and personalised ways to capture children and young people’s opinions, thoughts, views and experiences of mental health in this ever-changing world.
Exhibits include: a room installation visually representing the chaos of young people’s mental health; an LGBTQAI+ art installation; a photography wall conveying the highs and lows of young people’s mental health journeys; a poetry wall, featuring writing by young people across the district; an area to raise awareness and importance of equality, diversity and inclusion, and an area curated by Born In Bradford: Age Of Wonder.
Collaborators include Youth In Mind, Youth Music, Born In Bradford: Age Of Wonder, Carolyn Mendelsohn (Through Our Lens), Young In Covid, Bradford Youth Service, Equity Partnership and a number of community centres, primary and secondary schools across the Bradford and Craven District.
