Imagine the campaign, the kitchen or living room, with small hand presses and rollers of ink. Get a feel of a 'campaign office' downstairs in the Cellar Gallery. Bathe in the imagery of both government propaganda anti suffrage imagery and the innovative merchandise of posters, badges, sashes, leaflets, clothes, board games and toys by the women themselves.
From Women's rights, political reform, trade unions, protests, arrests and tragedy to well know women who fought the suffrage, see alongside creativity from women in 2018. Includes poetry by Bradford's Amria Khatun, ceramics by Hebden Bridge's Katch Skinner, printmaking by Bradford's Ruth Fettis and suffragette posters and merchandise by the Museum of London.
2018 marks 100 years since Parliament passed a law which allowed some women, and all men, to vote for the first time: the 1918 Representation of the People Act. Throughout the year we are celebrating this important milestone in the UK's democratic history
